   There are so many third-party mobile browsers available for use. Most of them are free, and often offer more features than inbuilt ones.

   In their quest to fight the free browsing menace, many of the network operator are striving valiantly to make it impossible to use Opera Mini to browse on their network.Zain, mtn. You can generally only use Opera Mini on networks that have blocked OM by using free browsing tricks.

   Opera Mini is one of the most widely used Mobile Browsers in the world. It is extremely popular because it saves costs by being one of the browser with the best compression rates). It is also the one mostly used to implement free browsing methods.

   What alternative browsers are there for use on Nigeria networks? Which do you prefer and why?

   I have used / am using the following browsers, both Java & native versions (in the past):

   Jb5, SkyFire, Ozone,TeaShark, UcWeb, Opera, Digia@Web, Bolt.

   I find UCweb 7.0 (native) and Opera Mini 5 beta 2 serve my needs most, so I am using them more.

   What are you views?

   9. Edge Browser (iPhone)

   11. Hot Browser (iPhone)
   12. Shaking Web (iPhone)
   13. iBrowser (iPhone)

   PS: One would think that with all the adulations given Safari on the iPhone, there would be no need for a 3rd party browser, but alas! Another pointer to the fact that needs differ and no one application, platform or smartphone will appeal to everyone or meet their needs.

   8 browsers listed for iPhone there. Looks like there is a real scramble and rush to develop for that platform.

   Interestingly, the mobile web browser leaders in the symbian world (Opera, UCWeb...) do not seem to be part of the bandwagon (yet).

   Just saw this:

   'Mr. von Tetzchner said that Opera ’s engineers have developed a version of Opera Mini that can run on an Apple iPhone, but Apple won ’t let the company release it because it competes with Apple’s own Safari browser.'

   I wonder how smart that is. The arbitrariness of the iPhone software licensing criteria..

   Opera mini now opens sites on my phone with a zain line and I am not using any cheat or trick. I hope this is for real.

   Similar scenario here: Opera Mini 5beta now runs with MTN. Was not browsing before.

   Only God knows what's gwan with these networks.

   Back to topic, my favourite browsers till date are mostly WebKit-based: S60 Web, Samsung's Dolfin, the now discontinued Iris, and the only non-WebKit app, Opera Mobile.

    I have found a new all-time favourite browser - the built-in MicroB browser on the Nokia N900. It is Mozilla-based, and it is simply fabulous. It is the best web browser on any mobile device till date.

    Think of a mobile browser that lets you use all the features of almost any desktop or mobile site in the same way you do on a desktop browser, and you get the idea. It has got full Flash 9.4 support and a superb JavaScript engine.

    Simply put, MicroB redefines the capabilities of a mobile browser.
